Shrimp Hariyali Kababs



I haven't met anyone who doesn't like shrimp, unless they just don't eat meat and fish!! It is a delicate, delectable treat and grilled with a hariyali or green marinade makes for a delicious appetizer or a salad topper!!


For this recipe you need-

Shrimp                           1lb
Cilantro                          1 bunch
Mint                               A few leaves
Ginger root                    A small piece
Garlic Cloves                 About 5 large
Lemon Juice                   Of one large lemon
Bell Pepper                     Red for Garnish
Red Cabbage                  For garnish
Olive Oil                        3 tbsps
Lemon                            One for wedges

Salt                                 To taste
Pepper                            A dash
Coriander Powder          1/4 tsp
Cumin Powder               1/4 tsp
Red Chilli Powder          A pinch
Serrano Pepper               1/2 a medium pepper


For the Marinade

Blend together cilantro, mint, serrano pepper (optional if you want to reduce the heat!) ginger, garlic, lemon juice using olive oil only, no water. Add salt, pepper, coriander powder, cumin powder, red chilli powder and blend till this is a smooth paste.

For the Garnish and Presentation
Shred red cabbage and cut thin slivers of red bell pepper to make a bed for the cooked shrimp to be served on. Cut lemon wedges and set aside to garnish with.

Apply marinade to clean shrimp and set aside for an hour. When ready to grill, skewer the shrimp and cook till done. If grilling seems like a lot of work these can be cooked in a bit of olive oil in a pan on medium heat till done. Skewer and serve on a bed of red cabbage and red bell peppers with lemon wedges as an appetizer or top a salad to make a yummy meal. The colors of this dish just pop making it a visually appealing, mouth watering treat!! Share with friends and family.Enjoy!
